Ultra High Definition
Video
Existing
high definition television (HDTV) parameters have a maximum
resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The latest trends and
developments in ultra high definition video are working toward
creating formats that are four times as wide and four times as
high as current technology and equipment is capable of
handling. This newest format of HDTV, known as Super-Hi-Vision,
is presently being developed and is expected to be available
for general use beginning in 2015.
Because
this technology is currently only in an experimental process,
sampling this high quality ultra high definition video is not
possible. If you can only imagine the highest definition
broadcast that you can find today, and picture the resolution
four times as deep and refined, then you may be on the right
track. Chances are it will be even more spectacular and defined
than you can imagine.
Other
than what can be found in some experimental technology labs in
Japan, there is no video equipment that is capable of handling
the signal for ultra high definition video at this time. But,
given the rate at which technology seems to advance, it will
probably seem like no time at all before this level of
technology is widely available.
